Rapidminer is too slow on Fedora 13
Hello,
I am using Rapidminer at the University on a Windows XP PC. On this Machine the software ist pretty fast. I think it is a dual core with 4 GB RAM or something like that hardware.
At home I try to use Rapidminer too, but is damned slow on my Machine. (It is a Core i5 with 8 GB RAM not so pretty old, or?) I run it on a Fedora 13. I have found this:
http://rapid-i.com/rapidforum/index.php/topic,2298.msg9093.html#msg9093 but this hint doesn't help me. I have try openJDK and the SUN JDK. But on both it is too slow. What is the mistake?
greetings carsten

this sounds like an issue with java and linux. There is no platform specific code in RapidMiner, so no problem there.
You might want to google a bit, my first query came up with this, maybe it will help?
HowTo: extremely speed up slow Java apps by enabling them to use OpenGL
Otherwise I'm afraid you'll have to google a bit yourself about the issue of slow java apps on linux. (google finds millions of hits for the problem, seems to be not that uncommen )

Marco
Now I try a old nvidia driver. ???
