Optimize Selection Evolutionary- Population size?

I have a data set with 56 attributes and I am forecasting a time series using an SVM. I am using an optimize selection evolutionary operator and have tested different population sizes which seem to have a large effect on the final result.

Are there any general rules for setting population sizes aside from using the default value of 5?
