write parameters into repository?

I want to write parameters into repository, however "write parameters" operator just saves into file on filesystem. Can I also store parameters as ".par" file into repository with "store" operator? and later retrieve it with retrieve operator from repository to use it with "set Parameter" operator? or will it not be recognised as parameters then?
