Funny Results after processing new data on a trained model

AKOAKO Member Posts: 5 Contributor II
edited November 2018 in Help

I have a trained text-classification model, that works fine with Cross-Validation. Now I am trying to apply the model on new data to predict the different categories. The results are below.

funny2.png

What is going wrong. In the zip are the model and the training and test data files.

PS I look at the post https://community.rapidminer.com/t5/RapidMiner-Studio-Forum/SOLVED-Applying-a-pre-trained-model-on-new-data/td-p/16643

But it applying it gives above results. Probably I forgot something?

@AKO@land makes very great points but from I see that your process is not what I would do at the very tail end.

    Try this (just repath everything)

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><process version="8.0.001">

@AKO the problem you had was the position of the Performance operator. The Performance operator needs to see a label from the training set to compare it to what the model is building on the training set. In your case, your test set provided a label, but it was not what the K-nn trained on, so when it was comparing the two, you got bad results.

Well, not necessarily. I would be very suspicious if the prediction just predicts one class, them something is usually wrong in the data preparation. In this case your new data set simply contains ONLY "" labeled examples. (Which I rather would call "Other" for ease of reading...). However, it seems that your models is quite bad as it only predicts other classes. Have you had "" labeled examples in the training set at all?

In short: Results look like okayish process with unknown predictive performance but with a bad train/test data set.

@thomas Thanks for your correction. @land: thanks for your comment.

I have compared the prediction results of my model and Thomas Ott solution in Excel (see att.).
There seem to be little difference between the predicted results.
    Differences are:
    1) some confidence numbers of solution Thomas Ott are 'float'. In my solution the confidence numbers are 'integer'.
    2) there are 3 rows with different predictions (see column with red-false values).

What obviously went wrong in my model is the Perfomance Operator. Probably the Performance operator is placed on the wrong position?
Question: Is there a (fundamental) error (besides the placing of the Performance operator) in my approach?
