SVM vs. Neural Net

Hi everyone. 

Can someone tell me why if i apply Neural Net as a learner in this process instead of SVM, the predicted values are all the same value? Do i make mistake in setting the parameters?

I post the XML of both processes, using SVM and using Neural Net. 

 

I hope that someone will help me, it's for a thesis research.

    I have tried as well to reproduce your XML but it does not work - I am not sure but I think that the line

    <parameter key="excel_file" value="C:\Users\Edoardo\Desktop\TESI\capitoli\2015-2016.xlsx"/> and a second one with your desktop as reference is the issue.

    Hi fe_edoardo,

     

    I could risk that highly optimized versions of both algorithms should give similar results. A neural net can even be simulated using specific kernel methods and optimization on SVM.

     

    That being said, there is a priori no reason to choose one over the other. Maybe you can first use Automodel and then further optimize one of the two?
