I see the lecturer adds ‘Subprocess’ in the Process tab, which shows up in this special window, But is this necessary to do it, cause if you don’t add the ‘subprocess’, you can still process the data exactly like what has been shown here? Please find the attached screenshots for your reference.

    You are right, if your process and your sub-process are the same, the result will be the same in both cases.  Subprocess is a useful tool to split your pipeline into several steps, e.g. ETL, model training, etc. 
    Rapidminer will execute the subprocess first and then return to the parent process.
