Hi everybody,

I'm doing some text mining and wonder if anyone can tell me about his experiences with the German Stemming opoerator ("A Fast and Simple Stemming Algorithm for German Words" by Jörg Caumanns.)

Do you use this stemming operator? If not, what else do you do?

THX and greetings
arminmania

    Hello arminmania,

Several stemmers in RM is quite simple and imperfect.
For the purpose of advanced stemmer design I suggest you to use the SnowBall http://snowball.tartarus.org/download.php language

There is also already a german version available: http://snowball.tartarus.org/algorithms/german/stemmer.html

    Hello,

right the Snowball stemmer is (at least sometimes)  a good alternative. For that reason it is also included in RapidMiner  ;)

Just use the operator "Stem (Snowball)".

    Cheers,
    Ingo
